Pumi

a breed of sheep dog developed in Hungary in 1923 by crossing pulis with German shepherds and briards. The pumi is 38–46 cm in height. In appearance it is very similar to the puli, but its coat is curly and shorter. The dog is black, white, gray, pale yellow, or spotted. Pumis are more active and excitable than pulik, and for this reason they are used more frequently for pasturing cattle rather than sheep. The dogs are found in Europe and in the United States. In the USSR they are raised on sheep farms in Stavropol’ Krai and Kazakhstan.
