The city of Khmoza, or Tarekitara (ancient Prome), is located 7 km from modern Pyè; from the fifth to seventh centuries (according to some sources, from the fifth to eighth centuries), Khmoza was the capital of Srikshetra, which was the state of the Pyu people.
