Pyramid State Recreation Area Location: 6 miles south of Pinckneyville off IL 127, then 2 miles west on Pyatts Blacktop in Perry County. Facilities: Tent and trailer campsites (no electrical hookups), including 3 Class C camping areas, Class D walk-in sites, small equestrian camp, and youth group camping area; small picnic areas, shelter, pit toilets; multi-use trails (16.5 miles), boat ramps (at larger lakes). Activities: Camping, boating (10 HP limit), canoeing, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, hunting. Special Features: Formerly the site of coal strip mines, the park is on reclaimed land that now consists of heavily forested hills with many lakes and ponds.
