Earthquakes and their attendant fires, landslides, sinkholes and tsunamis, along with occasionally related volcanoes and accompanying mudslides and pyroclastic clouds, have been the most destructive natural disasters in recorded history. The Monsoon's high production, fast velocity and ability to blow straight up, vertically hundreds of feet, lent special effects crews the authenticity they were seeking to simulate a realistic, volatile ash (cellulose) eruption, accompanied by a pyroclastic cloud that brought Universal Pictures' "Dante's Peak" and 20th Century Fox's "Volcano" to life on the silver screen. |
