Qavam Al-Saltana, Ahmad 

Born 1879; died 1955 in Tehran. Iranian statesman and political leader.

Qavam was a major landowner in Gilan. He was prime minister in 1921–22, 1922–23, 1942–3, and 1946–47, and from July 18 to July 21, 1952. He helped suppress the Iranian Revolution of 1905–11, the movement for national liberation in Gilan and Khorasan in the 1920’s, and the democratic movement in late 1946. He was responsible for the invitations extended by Iran to American financial missions in 1922 and 1942.
