| A qualitative research study that followed 16 students in a high-poverty elementary school from their first day of kindergarten to their last day of 6th grade, this book looks into the quality of their literacy instruction. The greatest challenge in teaching qualitative methods in sociology is deceptively complex: teachers must find an appropriate balance between teaching qualitative research methods and teaching sociology. The author concludes by outlining the potential benefits and pitfalls of using life histories and discusses how life history research, and qualitative research in general, can enrich and broaden our understanding of library science theory and practice. |
