Quiberon Expedition
(1795) one of the episodes of the wars of the Vendée. The British government, hoping to create a new royalist uprising against the French Republic, organized and outfitted a landing by counterrevolutionary émigrés on the Quiberon Peninsula in Brittany on June 27, 1795. The landing, led by the French royalist count J. G. Puisaye, was joined by several thousand Chouans under the command of G. Cadoudal. The Quiberon expedition ended in complete failure. The royalists were defeated by the troops of the Republican general L. Hoche on July 22, 1795. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
