Quoddy Head State Park Location: 4 miles off ME 189 in Lubec. Facilities: Picnic area, trail; visitor center and museum at West Quoddy Head Light adjacent to the park. Park is open May 15-October 15. Activities: Hiking, whale watching, fishing. Special Features: The easternmost point of land and lighthouse in the United States are adjacent to the park. Originally built in 1808 and then rebuilt in 1858, West Quoddy Head Light and its fog cannon warned mariners of Quoddy's dangerous cliffs, ledges, and Sail Rock, greatly reducing shipwrecks in this foggy area.
