rodding [′räd·iŋ]
(engineering)
An operation in which a rod is passed through a length of tubing such as a rifle or pipework to determine if the bore is clear.
(petrology)
In metamorphic rocks, a linear structure in which the stronger parts, such as vein quartz or quartz pebbles, have been shaped into parallel rods.

rodding
1. The strengthening of stone slabs or panels (usually marble) by cementing reinforcing rods into routings in the back.
2. The consolidation of mortar or concrete by the repeated insertions and withdrawals of a rod.
3. The clearing of an obstruction in a drain.
