isobutane (ī'səby`tān): see butane butane , C4H10, gaseous alkane, a hydrocarbon that is obtained from natural gas or by refining petroleum. It can be liquefied at room temperature by compression. There are two structural isomers of butane.

Yang Mianmian and colleagues from the Hater Group in Qingdao, China, devoted a paper to the servicing of R600a (isobutane) refrigerators, which it has produced since 1995 for the Chinese market.
With the China governments policy on CFC-free production taking effect in 2005, most suppliers will only use ozone-friendly refrigerants such as R600a and R134a by the end of the year.
