The main purpose of this note is to bring to light the danger awaiting users working with documents in RTF format, and to recommend the safest means for dealing with such a danger If the level of safety in DOC and RTF files is assessed as a whole, it follows to recognize the fact that DOC files conceal more danger, and they would also carry embedded executable files triggered by one click of an icon.
It has two distinguishing features: the first is that it utilizes files in RTF format a means for spreading, confusing users in as much as they believe these files to be absolutely safe, often opening them without first administering an anti-virus check.
A popular solution that Snowbound desires to complement is the use of the RTF format as an alternative to Word documents in order to allow multiple users to view the same document without encountering any format issues.
