Radde, Gustav
Born Nov. 15 (27), 1831, in Danzig, now Gdańsk; died Mar. 3 (16), 1903, in Tbilisi. Russian naturalist and ethnographer. Corresponding member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences. Radde came to Russia in 1852. He participated in expeditions to Eastern Siberia, the Caucasus, and other regions in Russia and to Iran and Turkey. He assembled extensive zoological, botanical, and ethnographic collections. In 1863 he settled in Tbilisi, where, with his assistance, the Caucasus Natural History Museum was founded in 1867.
