Radio Troops
a classification of forces organic to a country’s air defense, ground, and naval forces. They conduct electronic reconnaissance of the enemy’s air, ground, and naval forces; identify observed targets; provide information to air defense, civil defense, and various services of the armed forces regarding the targets; ensure guidance of fighter planes to targets; and direct the actions of air defense forces. Radar forces appeared in the armed forces of the USSR and several foreign countries before World War II. They are organized into units and subunits and are assigned to various types of radar stations that feature long-range detection capabilities, high precision in the determination of coordinates, and a reliable noise immunity.
