Raguzinskii-Vladislavich, Savva Lukich 

Born circa 1670; died June 17 (28), 1738. Russian government figure and diplomat.

Raguzinskii-Vladislavich was of Serbian ancestry, from the Vladislavić dynasty of Bosnian princes. He was an unofficial representative of the Russian government in Turkey from the late 17th century until 1708. In that year he settled in Moscow and served in the Posol’skii Prikaz (Foreign Office). He was also involved in major commercial transactions.

Raguzinskii-Vladislavich fought in the Prut Campaign of 1711. From 1711 to 1722 he was Russia’s representative in Montenegro and the Italian states of Venetia and Rome. From 1725 to 1728 he headed the Russian mission to China. He took part in negotiating and signing the Bura Treaty of 1827 and the Treaty of Kiakhta (1727). After his return to Russia, he compiled notes on China and maps of Eastern Asia.
