Rail Loader

    0.01 sec.
Rail Loader

a track machine designed to replace the rails of a railroad line. The base of the machine is a tetraxial platform having gantries equipped with jibs on each end. A control cabin and electric generator are also mounted on the platform. A trolley equipped with transporting and lifting mechanisms moves along the jib. A crossarm equipped with tongs to hold rails in place is attached to the lift cables of a trolley. Two rails are simultaneously removed from the line and moved onto roller conveyers located on the platform. The new rails are then removed from the platform and positioned on the railroad line in place of those that have been removed. The middle part of the jib of a rail loader and the trolley are capable of rotating on a turntable in order to laterally load and unload rails onto the shoulders or track spacing.
