a city in India, in the state of Madhya Pradesh, on the northeastern Deccan plateau. Population, 206,000 (1971). Rai-pur is a transportation junction and has textile and food-processing industries. The city’s economic importance has increased as a result of the nearby Bhilai metallurgical combine.
