Rajkot (räj`kōt), city (1991 pop. 654,490), Gujarat state, W central India, on the Aji River. Formerly the capital of the Rajkot princely state (to 1948) and Saurashtra state (1948–56), Rajkot is a district administrative headquarters and a commercial, industrial, and educational center. Textiles are the most important manufacture. Poultry and cattle are raised nearby.
