Rallis, Michael, and Peter Buas, Rebellion of
an anti-Turkish uprising of the Greek population of the Peloponnesus in 1463. Michael Rallis headed the uprising in Sparta and Peter Buas in Arcadia. The uprising was supported by Venice, whose possessions in the Peloponnesus were threatened by the Ottoman Empire. The rebels were victorious in a decisive battle near the city of Patras but were soon defeated by superior enemy forces. Michael Rallis was captured and put to death.
