Israel has looked to Africa for key alliances since the 1960s and although it was largely ostracised following the 1973 Ramadan War, it currently has full diplomatic relations with 39 out of 47 sub-Saharan countries.
Byline: mohammed al a'ali COUNCILLORS are vowing a Ramadan war on rogue meat traders, following allegations that unsafe cuts were being sold to the public during the holy month.
He was attending a military commemoration of the October War of 1973--called the Ramadan War by Arabs and the Yom Kippur War by Israelis--that paved the way for a historic agreement between Egypt and Israel.
