Ramazanov, Gilemdar Zigandarovich
Born June 16, 1923, in the village of Starobalakovo, now in Chekma-gush Raion, Bashkir ASSR. Soviet Bashkir poet and literary historian. Member of the CPSU since 1943. Ramazanov fought in the Great Patriotic War (1941–45). He graduated from the Bashkir Pedagogical Institute in 1949 and received the degree of doctor of philological sciences in 1966. Since 1953 he has been a staff member of the Bashkir branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Ramazanov began publishing in 1939. He wrote the verse collections Our Generation (1947), A Word of Love (1955), Ural Poem (1960), At Father’s (1966), and The Wind of Time (1970). In 1956 he published the monograph The Image of Soviet Man in Bashkir Poetry, in 1965 The Works of Mazhit Gafuri, and in 1973 Bashkir Tales. He has translated into Bashkir works by A. S. Pushkin, M. Iu. Lermontov, and N. A. Nekrasov. Ramazanov was a deputy to the sixth convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. He has been awarded three orders. WORKSHaylanma äthärdhär, vols. 1–2.
