Ramos Pedrueza, Rafael
Born Nov. 2, 1897, in Mexico City; died there Jan. 15, 1943. Mexican historian and public figure. Ramos Pedrueza became a deputy in the Mexican congress and was later a diplomat in Ecuador, where he helped establish the first Marxist circles. In the late 1920’s he assisted in founding the National Peasant League of Mexico. In the 1930’s he worked in the Ministry of Education and taught in the National Autonomous University. He visited the USSR in 1929 and after returning to Mexico helped organize the Society of Friends of the USSR in Mexico. Ramos Pedrueza wrote the first scholarly treatment of Mexican history viewed from the standpoint of Marxism. WORKSLa lucha de clases a través de la historia de Mexico, 2nd ed., [vols. 1–2].
