In its central section there is a cone-shaped active volcano of complex structure. The crater contains two cones, with the taller of the two having an elevation of 956 m. There was an eruption in 1846, and there was an increase in fumarole activity in 1946 and 1957. The slopes of the volcano are covered by meadows and groves of birch and alder.
