Rat's Wedding Day 19th day of first lunar month The Rat's Wedding Day is observed in some Chinese households on the 19th day of the first lunar month. It is customary to go to bed early so that the rats have plenty of time to enjoy themselves. Food is left out for them in the hope that it will dissuade the more ravenous rodents from disturbing the householder's kitchen. If a very large rat takes up residence in a house, it is regarded as the "Money Rat" and is treated well on this day, for its arrival indicates that the householder will prosper.
