Ratner, Sarah (1903– ) biochemist; born in New York City. She taught and performed research at Columbia University (1937–46), moved to New York University (1946–54), then joined New York City's Public Health Research Institute (1954). Her elegant contributions to studies of nitrogen metabolism have led to increased understanding of human disorders of urea synthesis.
