Gvetadze, Razhden Matveevich 

Born July 28 (Aug. 9), 1897, in the village of Tsikhia, in present-day Tkibuli City Soviet; died Dec. 1, 1952, in Tbilisi. Soviet Georgian writer.

Gvetadze began his literary activities in 1915. He was a member of the group of Georgian symbolists known as the Blue Antlers, but later he lost interest in symbolism. In his story “Teo” (1930), Gvetadze painted truthful pictures of the struggle to establish Soviet power in Georgia. He is the author of The Bonfire (1932), Evenings in Lashaur (1934), Byelorussian Novellas (1935), the Truthful Novellas series (1943), poems and narrative poems, and the story “Life Begins Again” (1949). Gvetadze translated the Indian epic Ramayana (1943), the Armenian epic David Sasunskii, and the works of Russian and Ukrainian writers.
