Rabab 

(also, rubab or lavabo), a plucked stringed instrument, widespread in Sinkiang (Chinese People’s Republic), India, and the Middle-Asian republics of the USSR (Uzbekistan, for example). It has a wooden pyriform body, a membrane sounding-board, five strings, and a neck with 21–23 frets. Length, 950–1,000 mm.
