Reichenbach, Hans (1891–1953) philosopher; born in Hamburg, Germany. He returned from service in World War I to study at the University of Berlin, at one point under Albert Einstein, and in 1926 became a physics professor there. He also made close contact with the Vienna Circle of logical positivists. Fleeing Adolf Hitler, he went to Turkey (1933) and to America (1938), where he taught at the University of California: Los Angeles from then on.
