Reid, Harry Fielding

Reid, Harry Fielding (1859–1944) seismologist; born in Baltimore, Md. He was professor of dynamic geology and geography at Johns Hopkins University (1911–30). He was appointed by President Woodrow Wilson to the National Academy of Sciences in 1915 to investigate the possible control of earthslides in the Panama Canal, and then was sent to work with British and French scientists in 1917 on a map-making survey of changes arising from World War I.
