Retroviridae [‚re·trə′vir·ə‚dī]
(virology)
A family of ribonucleic acid (RNA)-containing animal viruses characterized by spherical enveloped virions containing two single-stranded RNA molecules and reverse transcriptase, includes the subfamilies Oncovirinae, Spumavirinae, and Lentivirinae.
