Rewald, John (rē`wôld), 1912–94, American art historian, b. Berlin. Rewald emigrated to the United States in 1941. He was recognized as a foremost authority on late 19th-century art. His books include studies of Maillol (1935), Gauguin (1938), Seurat (1943), Bonnard (1948), Cézanne (1948), Pissarro (1963), Manzú (1967), and the standard work, The History of Impressionism (1946).
