Ribar, Ivan-Lola 

Born Apr. 23, 1916, in Zagreb; died Nov. 27, 1943. One of the organizers of the popular liberation struggle of the Yugoslav people against the fascist aggressors and their collaborators. People’s Hero of Yugoslavia (1944, posthumously).

Ribar joined the Yugoslav Communist Youth League in 1935 and became secretary of its Central Committee in 1937. He became a member of the Yugoslav Communist Party in 1936 and was elected a member of the party’s Central Committee in 1940. In 1941, Ribar became a member of the Supreme Staff of the People’s Liberation Army of Yugoslavia. He died during a bombing raid in the region of Glamočko Polje in Bosnia.
