Rice, Joseph

Rice, Joseph (Mayer) (1857–1934) educational innovator; born in Philadelphia. A New York physician, he became an educational researcher, publishing a major study, The Public School System of the United States (1893). He also reported public schools' standardized test results as editor of the Forum (1897–1907) and founded the Society of Educational Research (1903).
