Richard B. Russell State Park Location: 8 miles northeast of Elberton, off GA 77 on Ruckersville Road. Facilities: 28 tent/trailer/RV campsites, 17 cottages, 3 picnic shelters, group shelter, trails (6 miles), lake, swimming beach, rowing area, boat ramp, canoe and pedal boat rentals, 18-hole golf course, disc golf course, (é). Activities: Camping, boating, rowing, fishing, swimming, water-skiing, beach volleyball, hiking, bicycling, golfing. Special Features: Located on a 26,500-acre lake, Park has excellent fishing and boating. It also features an 18-hole golf course, and its nature trail follows the shoreline to one of the oldest steel pin bridges in the area. The park's facilities are all designed to be totally wheelchair accessible, including the swimming beach.
