Richmond, Julius Benjamin (1916– ) physician, child psychiatrist, educator; born in Chicago. He was psychiatrist-in-chief of the Judge Baker Guidance Center in Boston (1971–77) and then served as surgeon general of the United States (1977–81). He pioneered the introduction of psychosocial development in pediatric education. His career was marked by his interest in the development of health policies, particularly those aimed at children and families.
