Rifkin, Joshua (1944– ) musicologist, pianist, conductor; born in New York City. After studies in the U.S.A. and Germany, he taught at Brandeis (1970–82) and pursued a range of activities from early music scholarship and performance to arranging popular music. As a pianist he was a leading figure in the Scott Joplin ragtime revival.
