A highway that encircles an urban area along its perimeter. Also known as belt highway; ring road.

The plan calls for extending the MTA's Green Line and the Century Freeway to LAX - which is funny since officials deliberately built both to end just short of the airport - and for constructing an expressway off the 405 Freeway, north of the airport, to the proposed ring roads that would encircle LAX.
Oriente Station by Santiago Calatrava is a major transport centre linking international and national rail links, a new metro line, a coach station, and ring roads and is well connected to the airport 3km away.
In Poland this recently led to several large assignments for the design of ring roads near Warsaw and Wroclaw.
