Rio Grande do Sul leads the country in the harvesting of grains and the clipping of wool. Paraguay tea is gathered. Viticulture and horticulture are important. There is also livestock breeding, with sheep accounting for approximately 60 percent of the total number of livestock in Brazil. Coal, which accounts for approximately one-fifth of the nation’s total production, and copper ore are mined.
