Riutov, Dmitrii Dmitrievich
Born Mar. 6, 1940, in Moscow. Soviet physicist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1976). Riutov graduated from the Moscow Physicotechnical Institute in 1962. He was a staff member of the Institute of Atomic Energy from 1962 to 1968, when he joined the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Siberian Division of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Riutov’s principal works deal with plasma physics, particularly the explosive instability, the anomalous resistivity of a plasma, particle-beam heating of a plasma in open magnetic traps, high-current electron beams, and the thermal insulation of a dense plasma.
