Rkatsiteli

(Kukura, Topolek, Korolek), a mid-season local Georgian variety of wine grape.

Rkatsiteli is cultivated in the Georgian SSR (primarily in Kakhetia), the Armenian SSR, the Kazakh SSR, the republics of Middle Asia, the Moldavian SSR, the Ukrainian SSR, and the Stavropol’ Krai of the RSFSR. The cluster is of average size, long and cylindrical, often with a single highly developed shoulder and of average compactness. The medium-sized berry is oval and greenish white or yellow with a tendency to brown in the sun. It yields 14–20 tons per hectare. Rkatsiteli is used to make high-quality wines of various types in all the regions in which it is cultivated.
