Uhrig, Robert

Born Mar. 8, 1903, in Leipzig; died Aug. 21, 1944, in Brandenburg. German antifascist. Member of the Communist Party of Germany from 1923.

Uhrig, a metalworker by trade, was arrested in 1934 for taking part in the struggle against the fascist dictatorship. After his release in 1936, he set up an underground organization that operated at business establishments in Berlin. The group was in constant contact with the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Germany. Uhrig, together with his comrades-in-arms, was arrested by the Gestapo in February 1942. He was later executed.
