In east-central TX, southeast of Waco; organized Dec 14, 1837 (prior to statehood) from Bexar County. Name Origin: For Gen. Sterling Clark Robertson (1785-1842), officer in the Battle of New Orleans (1815), signer of the TX Declaration of Independence (1836), and Republic of TX legislator (1836; 1840).

Area (sq mi): 865.67 (land 854.56; water 11.11). Pop per sq mi: 18.90.

In north-central KY, southeast of Covington; organized Feb 11, 1867 from Nicholas, Harrison, Bracken, and Mason counties. Name Origin: For George Robertson (1790-1874), U.S. representative from KY (1817-21) and chief justice of KY Court of Appeals (1829-34).

On the central northern border of TN, north of Nashville; organized Apr 9, 1796 by the division between Montgomery and Robertson counties of Tennessee County, which had been organized in 1788 from Davidson County and was then abolished. Name Origin: For Gen. James Robertson (1742-1814), office in the Revolutionary War; called "Father of Tennessee" for his active support of statehood, and founder of present-day Nashville (1780).
