Rockenbach, Samuel Dickerson (1869–1952) soldier; born in Lynchburg, Va. The son of a Confederate army officer, he graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 1890 and served in the cavalry. As chief of the Tank Corps, American Expeditionary Force in France (1917–19), he became a pioneer of armored warfare. How to thank TFD for its existence?
