Roger Pryor Pioneer Backcountry Location: In Shannon County; call park for location. Facilities: Hiking and backpacking trails (27 miles). Activities: Hiking, backpacking. Special Features: The state's largest undeveloped area is located within the state's largest privately owned forest (Pioneer Forest) in a remote area of the Ozarks. In addition to its 27 miles of trails, the area includes nearly 15 miles of frontage on the Current River, considered by many to be the finest float stream in the state. The area also includes two designated natural areas with impressive old-growth trees, some as old as 400 years.
