Special Features: This memorial is a landscaped urban park on the site of the founding of Providence by Roger Williams in 1636. Williams guaranteed religious freedom to all faiths and this colony served as a refuge where all could come to worship as their conscience dictated without interference from the state.

Jennifer Gonsalves of New Bedford has been hired as the full-time site manager at the Roger Williams National Memorial, and Bill Maurer is the new administrative officer for both the Blackstone Heritage Corridor and the Roger Williams Memorial.
Gonsalves said her background will serve her well at the Roger Williams National Memorial.
