Rogers, Kenny (Ray) (1941– ) popular singer, guitarist; born in Houston, Texas. While in high school he performed on American Bandstand and in the 1960s and 1970s played in various jazz, folk, and country-rock groups including Kenny Rogers and the First Edition. On his own as a country singer, he found wide popularity with the hit "Lucille" (1977) and then produced such hits as "Lady" (1980) and "I Don't Need You" (1981). How to thank TFD for its existence?
