95 Paperback N5350 Mysterious pioneer Egyptologist Emile Prisse d'Avennes (1807-79) produced this collection of photographs and color drawings of ancient Egyptian art, much of it lost in the following years, and published it in Paris over the decade from 1868 to 1878 as Atlas de l'histoire de l'Art Egyptien, d'aprees les monuments, depuis les temps les plus recules jusqu'a la domination romains.
During World War II, the bookstore also ran a publishing house, La Maison Francaise, that published authors fleeing Nazism such as Andre Maurois, Jules Romains and "The Little Prince" writer Antoine de Saint-Exupery.
