Romanoff, Michael (“Prince Mike”; possibly born Harry F. Gerguson) (?1892–1971) restaurateur, impostor; possibly born in Vilna, Lithuania. Among his many fabrications, little is definitely known of his early life. In 1919 he proclaimed himself a Russian prince and lived a glamorous life on credit in Paris and London before opening a celebrity restaurant in Hollywood (1939), the first of a chain that he managed until his 1962 retirement.
