Rose, Uriah Milton (1834–1913) jurist; born in Bradfordsville, Ky. He graduated from Transylvania University (1853), moved to Arkansas, and practiced law. Although he originally opposed secession, he cast his lot with his state during the Civil War. He traveled widely after 1872. He was delegate to the Second Peace Conference at the Hague (1907). He wrote Digest of the Arkansas Reports (1867) and The Constitution of the State of Arkansas (1891). Arkansas placed his statue in the U.S. Capitol.
