Rosenthal, Moriz (mō`rĭts rō`zəntäl), 1862–1946, Polish pianist; pupil of Liszt Liszt, Franz , 1811–86, Hungarian composer and pianist. Liszt was a revolutionary figure of romantic music and was acknowledged as the greatest pianist of his time. He made his debut at nine, going thereafter to Vienna to study with Czerny and Salieri.

. He made his debut in Vienna in 1876, and later made many tours of the United States, settling there in 1938. He was considered one of the greatest pianists of his time, retaining his powers almost until the end of his life.
