Rosselli, Cosimo (kô`zēmō rōs-sĕl`lē), 1439–1507, Florentine painter. He was one of the artists summoned to Rome by Sixtus IV to assist in decorating the Sistine Chapel Sistine Chapel (sĭs`tēn) [for Sixtus IV ], private chapel of the popes in Rome, one of the principal glories of the Vatican. ..... Of his many works in Florence the most famous is The Miracle-working Chalice in Sant' Ambrogio, a work that includes many contemporary portraits. He ran a large workshop. Among his pupils were Piero di Cosimo and Fra Bartolomeo. There are paintings by Rosselli in the Louvre; the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; and in the Walters Art Gallery, Baltimore.
